CAMPIONATO ITALIANO FORMULA 3 > 2010
THE PREQUEL
THE HISTORY OF THE FORMULA 3 ITALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP WAS ESTABLISHED 46
YEARS AGO. ITS FIRST THREE YEARS ARE ITS FIRST CHAPTER. THE PAGES OF AN
OVERWHELMING TALE HAVE AN EMOTIONAL BACKGROUND
battuta allo spareggio, un evento ri-
masto unico nella storia della Serie A
di Calcio. E poi i successi di John Sur-
tees che sarà Campione Mondiale di
Formula 1 con la Ferrari, dopo essere
stato iridato anche in moto. La veloci-
tà, il rischio, i corridori. Quanto fascino.
Sono infilati in siluri di suoni e velocità
innaturali. Sono sprezzanti del perico-
lo e regalano spettacolo. Quando la
Formula 1 affronta la sua 15esima sta-
gione mondiale, nasce il Campionato
Italiano Formula 3. La prima gara è a
Monza, il 5 aprile 1964. Pole position

Milan, Juventus and Inter that was bea-
ten in the play-off, an event that was
unique in the history of Italian Serie A,
the major league. And the successes
of John Surtees, who will be Formula
1 World Champion with Ferrari, after
already being motorbike world cham-
pion. The speed, the danger, the dri-
vers. How charming. They are stuffed
into torpedoes with unnatural sound
and speed. They are scornful of the
danger and offer entertainment. When
the Formula 1 world faces his 15th
season, it comes the Italian Formula 3
Championship. The first race at Monza,
April 5, 1964. Pole position and victory
are of “Geki”, a pseudonym for Gia-
como Russo, at the wheel of De Sanctis
- Ford over a distance of about 120 km
of the final race after two heats, both
of 35 km, for a total of just under 200
km over the weekend.
It ‘s a championship and a category
created to nurture new talent, but for
the atmosphere, forms, fascination is
quite close to Formula 1. It will be so in
his first seasons, a period not surprisin-
gly known as “the screamer era” with
a precise identity. The circuits tended
